TWO SHIPS, ONE SEA

The OpenClaw alternative with nothing to run.

OpenClaw is a brilliant self-hosted assistant. AgentParley is a hosted crew: no server, no terminal, no updates to run.

OpenClaw runs on a computer you keep switched on. It got so popular that people bought up Mac minis to run it, enough that Apple ran short. We think nobody should have to buy hardware to get a good agent. Sign up in the browser, paste an API key, and your agent is running in our cloud tonight, and every night after.

"We ran OpenClaw ourselves. Then we moved everything to AgentParley."

— Kasper Sogaard, founder and CEO

WHY CAST OFF

Five differences from OpenClaw you'll notice.

What you stop doing, and what you start getting, in the first week.

No server. No terminal.

OpenClaw installs with a curl | bash script and a terminal setup wizard, and needs Node 24 or newer. AgentParley is a sign-up form. If you can use a web browser, you can run a crew.

No updates to run.

With OpenClaw, you run openclaw update yourself. Here, updates ship on our side. You log in to the new version; plugins you've pinned stay put, and any plugin update that wants more access waits for you.

A standing crew, not one helper.

OpenClaw can spawn sub-agents for a task, and they're useful. AgentParley gives you a permanent team: named specialists, each with its own personality, model, tools and rules about who may call whom. They message each other like colleagues, and the lead doesn't tell you 'done' while a specialist still owes a report.

A face and a voice, built in.

OpenClaw has Talk Mode for voice, and community projects add avatars. AgentParley ships a 3D companion in the box: lip-sync, emotion and gestures on top of your full agent, which can hand the job to the crew behind her.

Plugins in a cage.

OpenClaw plugins run inside the assistant as fully trusted code. Its own docs say: 'Treat plugin installs like running code.' Ours run in a fresh, throwaway sandbox for every call, with no file or process access, and you see the addresses it declared before you install. An update that wants more access waits for your OK.

THE SANDBOX

A bad plugin stays boxed in.

Marketplaces attract bad actors. The only question is what a bad plugin can reach.

In early 2026 Koi Security audited 2,857 skills on ClawHub, OpenClaw's marketplace, and found 341 malicious ones, mostly carrying a macOS password stealer (the "ClawHavoc" campaign, as reported by Palo Alto Networks Unit 42). OpenClaw's team responded, and the ecosystem is better for the scrutiny. Our answer is structural: an AgentParley plugin runs in a disposable sandbox with no files and no processes, and its outbound calls go through our gateway, checked against the hosts it declared. We work out its permissions by reading its code, so it can't under-declare, and we show them to you before you install. More on how the plugin sandbox works.

THE TOKEN BILL

Why AgentParley uses fewer tokens.

On a long task, most of an agent's bill is the same prompt, sent again. We build every prompt so your provider can bill that part at its cached rate.

Every time an agent thinks, it re-sends its instructions, its tools and the conversation so far. On a long task, that repeated part is most of the bill. Model providers offer a steep discount on it, called prompt caching, but only if the start of the prompt is exactly the same as last time. Change one character near the top, a clock, a reordered tool, a counter, and you pay full price again.

Caching matters for agent tools. In April 2026 Anthropic stopped letting Claude Pro and Max subscriptions cover third-party agent tools such as OpenClaw, citing its terms of service and strain on its systems; in May it let them back in on a separate monthly credit. Third-party tools often miss the provider's prompt cache: OpenClaw's own issue tracker has an open report that heartbeats put the current time into the cached start of the prompt, so each heartbeat pays to write it again.

How we keep the start identical

A stable system prompt.

Your agent's persona, instructions and skills come out byte-for-byte the same every turn. No clock, no to-do list, no 'current time' line at the top.

History only grows at the end.

Old messages are replayed exactly as they were, stamped with the time they arrived, never re-stamped.

Summarise once, don't trim every turn.

When a chat gets long, it's summarised once and then grows at the end again, instead of dropping one old message every turn and missing the cache every turn.

Waiting is free.

An agent waiting on a colleague, a timer or a build makes zero model calls until something arrives.

Small, focused specialists.

A specialist starts with its own short brief, not the whole parent conversation, and can run on a cheaper model.

Example Say an agent's instructions, tools and history add up to 30,000 tokens, and it makes 20 model calls on a task. Sent uncached, that's 600,000 input tokens at full price. At typical cached-input pricing, where a cache read costs about a tenth of normal input, the first call writes the cache and the other 19 read it: roughly 85% less on the repeated part.

Pricing: why AgentParley uses fewer tokens

OpenClaw questions

Do I need a Mac mini to run OpenClaw?

No. OpenClaw also runs on Windows, Linux or a rented server. People buy Mac minis because it has to stay on around the clock. AgentParley runs in our cloud, so you need no machine at all.

Can I run OpenClaw in the cloud?

Yes, on a rented server you set up and update yourself. AgentParley is a different product that we run and update for you.

Is AgentParley a hosted OpenClaw?

No. It's its own platform, not OpenClaw run for you. It does the same kind of job without a machine to run, and adds standing crews, a 3D companion and sandboxed plugins.

Is AgentParley open source?

No. It's a hosted service we run, update and secure for you.

Can I bring my OpenClaw setup across?

Yes, by paste: your skills and prompts are plain text, so they drop straight into an agent's instructions or a skill.

Leave the Mac mini in the box.

Your crew is running in the cloud tonight.
