A FIVE-MINUTE JOB
Get an API key in five steps.
An API key lets your agents use a model provider directly, billed by use. Here's how to get one and connect it.
THE STEPS
From sign-up to a working key.
- 1
Pick a provider
OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter all work. OpenRouter gives you many providers' models behind one key. You can add more providers later and pick a model per agent.
- 2
Create a developer account
Sign up on the provider's developer site: platform.openai.com, console.anthropic.com or openrouter.ai. This is a separate account from a ChatGPT or Claude chat plan.
- 3
Add credit and a monthly limit
Add a payment method or prepaid credit. While you're there, set a monthly spend limit, so your bill can never run past a number you choose.
- 4
Create a key and copy it
Open the API keys page and create a new key. Copy it straight away: most providers show it only once.
- 5
Paste it into AgentParley
Paste the key when the console asks for your model during setup, or add it later in your model settings. It's encrypted as soon as you save it, and your provider bills you directly, with no markup from us.
OTHER ROUTES
No key? Other ways to power your crew.
Already pay for ChatGPT or Claude?
You can use that plan instead of a key, through our tunnel: log in to OpenAI's Codex or Anthropic's Claude Code on your own computer and connect it. See your own machines.
Want to run models yourself?
Free models running on your own computer, such as Ollama or LM Studio, work through the same tunnel, with no key and no token bill.
Which model should I start with?
Put your best model on the lead agent and a fast, cheap one on research. You pay flagship prices only where they count.
Your key is ready. So is your crew.
Sign up in your browser, paste the key, and send your first agent its first job.
